I have a 91 22re 4x4 and up until the other day it has run perfect. i had a problem on the way to work with fuses blowing i kept blowing my EFI fuses and it turned out i had a efi wire resting on the manifold and it burned through ad shorted out but since then the truck has lost all power it starts and drives but i can only go 40mph and dont have any pep i thought i jumped timing and i went to check it with the gun but i dont know where the points are on this motor any help? or idea what could be happening? i also thought it could be a clogged cat? what you think?

After you repaired the burnt wire, have you disconnected the battery? That is what I would try next, see if it will reset the computer. Just disconnect the negative side of the battery, leave it off for about a minute, then reconnect.

If you are still low on power, and want to check the ignition timing, the marks will be on the main crank pulley. You should see a plate hanging out over that pulley, with marks on it. You might have to clean it up to be able to read it easily. Then find the mark on the pulley. When I was setting my ignition timing I put a dot of White-Out on both marks to help me see them. That will show up really well with a timing light.

I don't remember the exact process, but you are supposed to jump two wires, then check the timing. Once it is set correctly, remove the jumper wire and re-connect. I think the directions are on a label under the hood on my truck. Let me know if you need more clarification.
