86 Body Switch...Is it possible?

I want to start by saying Thank you. You guys have helped me out tremendously since Nov. when I began puting a new 22re in 'Ole Yeller'. My grandpa bought the truck brand new in 86 drove it 215k and gave it to me with a head gasket leak. Its took 2 weeks motor out and new in, mounts, starter, fuel filter, clutch plate and disc, throw-out, brakes and master cylinder, raditator and hoses, belts. Biggest mechanical endeavor I have under taken and it has been my daily driver for 3 months.
Anyways,

I found a 91 4x4 extcab in a junk yard. Its a "cash 4 clunkers" deal so you can't buy it off the lot, they have to part it out. Its a V6 and I just want the body because my 86 4x4 ext is rusted as. I know awesome fabricaters but I don't want them to do that much work. Its it gonna bolt on?

Cash for clunkers and junk yards suck!

Unless you plan on using it for off road and never titling it, sure.

But otherwise, what you're implying is HIGHLY illegal, and I'm pretty sure a 91 body on what's supposed to be an 86 will stick out like a sore thumb... i.e if you get in wreck, it's crunch time and you will be held 100% liable and prolly go to jail to.

Good grief.

Make sure the VIN from the 86 is affixed to the later body. No problem.

No it will not bolt up, but not that far off. You will have to tweak the location of some body mounts. It's been done.

My 87 sports an 88 body, but of course that was a direct bolt-up.
