Exclamation Transmission questions

I have a 80 2WD yota with the L43 4 speed and i found a W50 from a 1980 2WD SR5 to use as a swap donor and I am wondering if I will have to do any mods to get it to fit and if the number of splines is the same any info is good. I have only owned it 4 four months.

I would recommend you read this thread about using an 79-80 transfercase behind anything but an L43. evidently the transfer case input shaft change after 1980.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...ferrerid=89727

other than that you should be fine...due to parts availability I just swapped my busted l50 for an l43 till I can find one.
It is the same length. I only issue I foresee is maybe the hole in the transmission tunnel for the shifter may need to be tweeked

edit: early L43 TC input pic's

grind to fix:

--from the thread on pirate you can carefully grind the early style TC input shaft to work..

here is the pic of the Input shaft of a TC I pulled out of an '80 it was either a swapped case or toyota had fixed it by then...by the amount of road grime on the case I think it was original:

below is the input from my 1981 transfer case..

don't have any experience with others.

did you edit that after I posted about the Transfer case? if not sorry guess I figured you had a 4WD. you should be fine, I would just check the splines to be sure.
