Question old style hose clamp question

Im going to swap my heater bypass hoses tomorrow and before I start I want to ask as Ive never touched them, how do you loosen the old hose clamps that have what looks like a cotter pin in them. I dont want to yank or twist the heater core lines any more than I need to. Im assuming you pull the pin but dont know!!!!! Im working up a full heater / cooling system hose and parts list to post up for the 82 Trekker as I couldn't find one! I think Ive got all of the hoses and clamps I need, I bought Goodyear and Kelly Springfield parts, new rad cap, thermostat & gasket... Thanks again, Matt

You do not pull the pin out!! Take a pair of needle nose pliers and turn / twist until the metal clamp starts to loosen then slip the clamp off. The pin should not be removed. When reinstalling, twist the pin to tighten the clamp.

get rid of the old style and use standard 'screwdriver' style clamps instead.
