camshaft and lifter swap 84 toyota pickup to 89 toyota pickup???

I own a 1989 Toyota pickup with the 22RE engine, the camshaft and 2 exhaust lifters are completely wasted. i also have an 22R engine out of a 1984 toyota pickup. would the camshaft and lifters match up so i could swap them out of my 1984 22R engine and put them in my 1989 22RE engine??

Thank you,
Brandon Yovan

I think the head designs are slightly different, so I'm going to say no... but I could be mistaken...

and please don't leave visitor messages to people asking if they'll answer your question...

my apology just needed the question answered as soon as possible. and yes the head on a 22R is 1/8 of an inch taller then the 22RE, and your thought on it is that neither will work? the lifters nor the camshaft?

ummmm, the lifters might, but I think the cam profile is different

I mean, it just might swap and bolt in, but don't expect it to run great; you're putting a cam designed for a carbed engine into a fuel injected engine

and no worries about the message, just say'n; some people may not be so nice as to just "let you know"

I figured the cam would fit, but i had a good bet that it would not open the valves enough or too much. and i would lose a ton of horse power.. or it wouldnt run at all.. was not completely sure. i am hoping things will work out better then i think they will. the lifters have a better chance of fitting then the cam does as you said. from what i looked at the lifters should go right in. but i suppose there is only one way to find out.. lol...
