Upgrading to 3.4L - what donor do I need?

Hi Guys,

I have a '94 V6 SR5 4x4 5spd puckup and thinking to upgrade to the Toyota 3.5L motor. Because of the various parts needed for the transplant - ECU, wires, etc., I am thinking to pick up a donor car to farm these from. Those of you that have done this - what is my list of potencial donors? For instance, are the bell housings different on the Stick and Auto models? Can I use a 4Runner? Can a 2x4 be used a donor for this project?

Please advise.

For anyone looking this up in the future - http://www.offroadsolutions.com/34co...on_manual.html

Is a great article that had most of the answers I wanted. Thanks 4x4runr for pointing me here. Problem is, the price of the conversion just about justifies the purchuse of a truck already equipped with the 3.4....

They went out of business a year ago. Most people find the motor for $1000-1500 and do the swap themselves. The hardest part is wiring. Here are more links....
