so i got the truck at the end of this summer and i finally found went to see bargained 60 bucks off(Toyota Canada wanted 800 smackers for a new gate) and came home with 2 87 tailgates but since my truck is an 88 they are both now 88 tailgates haha.
one of the gates had the latch bits and pieces and the mechanism cover and the other one didn't have a big dent in it. so i swapped the parts and had it on in no time flat.. sorta..
still don't have the hardware for the supports so i dont open it much yet and i gotta paint it to match better but its on there and that's all that matters one day ill paint the YO white, because i heard that was the cool thing to do in the 80's


I hate that net that was on there. i think it made the truck look shotty. and now its whole again and it doesn't look like my trucks missing an arm.

ahaha i want one of those beds! nice ole jap bed their the coolest...

 

The bed's got fiberglass bed sides that are starting to not like how they were attached to the metal so I'm kind of thinking about maybe removing them and building a frame for each side then using some kind of clip or quick release fastener's sorta like the drag racers an.

but man i love having that tailgate back there everyone at school though i was nuts because i just wouldn't shut up about my tailgate for day after day haha.

exhaust? sorta.. its some ty 1 in 2 out muffler that was obviously installed in the past to look KOOL and thus i do not have a spare tire hanger anymore either ill post a pic tomorrow. but my exhaust is a train wreck.
