84 Toy Truck no power

I've got an 84 toy truck that I just rebuilt the engine, it just doesnt want to go!
Some stats---
Header
Weber carb
.020 off head
.005 off block
RV cam from LC
Rejetted carb for 9000ft (home)
new coil
new distrib
Degreed cam, found retarded 3degrees,now at 3 degrees advanced
timing set at various settings but runs ok at 10 advanced
No tach but I guess at about 3500 rpm engine falls on its face, checked cat converter its good, looking for vacuum leaks now.
Help me brainstorm!!! any knowledge, guesses, comments will be much appreciated.
5 spd
Thanks, MK

Did you check the timing again, and are you running the same pistons, because the 85 and up pistons are flat top and the 84.5 and older are dish top because of the block being taller. To help find vacuum leaks spray some carb cleaner around your gaskets and vacuum lines and see if it changes any in the way it runs. Welcome to yotatech and goodluck.

84 Toy

Thanks for the reply and welcome, Sharp looking truck ya got!

I did do the spray the carb trick, did have a small leak, fixed it, some thing. I found a altitude conversion chart, I live behind Pikes Peak and the elev is about 9k my compression checked at about 110 psi, after the conversion I'm @ about 140 @ sea level, so thats good. I never had to deal with that being from MS, you know what I'm talking about being from LA. I'm gunna go with a larger diameter exhaust, maybe, 2.25, weld up a larger filter box and change all fluids to Amsoil. Because of the elevation, I may have to deal with the not so snappy performance. I'll do those repairs and put it on a sniffer to check my rejetting.

Wait till next week when I post the bedless pics, time to bob it due to cancer of the bed
So I'm guessing you have a 84 block with a 22r head. Which pistons do you have in it?

are you running an adjustaable cam gear? THe last motor I buil was a 84 block with 85 flattops{received wrong pistons} 20R head carburated with a 270 cam, and I am getting 110psi across all cylinders. So now I'm installing the adj cam gear from LC and having the block cut to the 85 block height which is about 2MM shorter to fix my problem, and boost the compression to 10-1

I do have LC's gear, Found, after degreein that I was 2.5 degrees retarded--so now 3 advanced--sounds like you got a plan for some good power!! Stay in touch with the build up--I'll know more on my adjustments after this weekend.

I had the same problem after I replaced a head gasket and replaced a burnt valve. the timing had jumped on mine.
