Lift questions

Hello, i just got a 97 4runner sr5. im looking to lift it and give it some good off road capabilitys. id like to see it with 33s but i dont know where to start. Ive been told that a 4' OME is good but i have also heard that you dont need 4 inches of lift to squeeze 33s. Also with the rear locker, mine did not come with one but i am going to put one on, not sure weather or not to go with the factory electric or do somthing like ARB. Im still learning so if anybody could let me know whats recomended, i would apreciate it.

If you go with any type of suspension, go with SAW's in the front and the OME rear setup. This will yeild somewhere around 2 1/2" of lift. That is enough to fit 285/75/16's. That is about the highest amout of lift you can go without beating up the cv's too much. As for the locker, go with arb if you can afford it.

Fronts:

SAWS = Sway-A-Way

They make an adjustable front coil over setup. That way if you ever get a steel bumper (ARB, TJM etc.) or a supercharger, you can adjust your fronts to be level with the rear because it will start to sag.

Also Downey makes an adjustable front coil over as well. Same thing as Sway-A-Way.

Rear:

OME = Old Man Emu

Makes rear shocks and coils

Downey also has rear coils that will provide you ith 2.5 " lift most likely

Bilstein also makes rear shocks

All you will need is 2.5 " to wheel. If you truelly wanna go higher then be my guest. You will probably have to get a manual hub conversion in the front though.

I went with a OME/OME setup (OME shocks and coils in front and rear). Just because I'm not a hardcore wheeler, and I don't plan on installing any steel bumper or winch up in front.
Instead of paying around 900 bucks for a lift, I only payed 650.

Happy hunting.

Oh yea, you'll want to buy from this guy www.xtremeoff-road.com

Excellent man to deal with
