Anybody Narrowed a Landcruiser Front Axle?

I'm wondering if anybody has narrowed down an FJ80 Landcruiser solid front axle housing for use in a mini truck/4runner. It looks like they are 63.5 inches wide, compared to 55-1/2 inches for the mini front. I'd like to end up with a housing 60" wide.

Also, are the ball/knuckle ends on the housing the same on the Landcruiser and the mini, so that the outer knuckle will swap? -- Matt

With what high steer and such costs for an 80-series axle, you're better off adding wheel spacers or the IFS hub swap to a minitruck axle.

All that said, if you have the skills, shortening the housing wouldn't be much different than a cut/rotate job.

I could see custom length shafts being pretty spendy..

I'm sure someone's probably done it but to shorten them for use under a mini/4runner is counter-productive. If I'm not mistaken the internals and hardware is the same? Just wider/longer. They both use the same thirds.....

Wheel spacers, bobby longs and a FJ80 high pinion.. you're set =)

I forgot all about the IFS hub swap. Sky Off-road made a kit.. Looks like it's an improvement over wheel spacers anyway. And it might help with wheel clearance for bigger calipers.
