So because they were well reviewed on here, and because my brother needed a new set of tires for his 96 4runner about 3 years ago when he got it, I convinced him to get a set of Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revo's. One of the big reasons I pushed them so hard was because at the time they had a snowflake (winter tire rating) on them (which his previous tires had). Now my brother drives his 4runner hard, he brakes harder them most, and accelerates faster than most. And he got 110,000 km's on his set which we jsut replaced (that's around 65,000 miles). I was impressed that HE got such High mileage out of these tires. So naturally we just got a new set. So I'm at the gas station filling up his 4runner 2 days ago and I decided to look at his new replacement revo's. Well guess what - no more snowflake? WTF - I know Bridgestone has a new Revo 2 out, but did they decide to ditch going for the snowflake/winter rating on these tires or was the criteria changed or whats the deal?

Yes I realize while they may have had a winter rating, they are still a compromise compared to a real winter tire, BUT I'm a bit dissappointed and so will my brother be, if they no longer carry the winter tire rating.

It seems to be "answering" a law that passed in Quebec for winter tire requirements but I'm wondering if it still applies in your case, especially since you live in Canada.

Well Quebec is still part of Canada lol
but the law does not apply out side of the province. Several provinces are considering similar laws for their areas. I agree it seems like a way for them to sell old stock tires that still meet the requirements of the new law.

As for the snowflake rating being taken off I recall reading something a while back that said the standards for the rating were changing so maybe the REVOS no longer meet the standard.

It just seemed strange that the info was directed specifically at Quebec residents, but did not apply to other provinces, such as BC.
