What do you use to keep the mud off the side of your truck? Links?

 

Not trying to be a smart ass, but, stock mud flaps? They work great, on my Runner.

the stock mudflaps work great..but one of mine got ripped off crawlin around on some small rocks...so i took the rest of them off..

 

stock mudflaps are actually pretty big flaps.

 

Well it doesnt have any right now so I need to track some down.

 

both my front stock mud flaps got ripped off by my Super Swampers.. Hard turn, or some intense IFS flex, and the lugs just ate my mud flaps..

 

I took my stock mud flaps and cut them down. They still work pretty good, they dont get hooked up and draged through the rocks as much. In my opinion they look a lot better too.

personally, i swell with pride when i drive my daily driver back home and to work etc. with mud all up and down the sides. kinda like "yeah, that's right, my daily driver is tough enough to go muddin' and then drive to work the next day!"

 

by the way BMC, i love your truck set up, and especially the non-existance of rust! it makes me sad to think about what my truck looked like long before i got it (minus the suspension and bumper upgrades). wanna trade? lol

 

My front stock flaps got tore off just backing up onto a curb to park in some grass, no lift and stock 275/70R15 tires. No more front mud flaps, however I still have the back ones on when I did the flatbed, they are a little higher now being mounted to the wooden bed.

 

the only bad thing is that if hes doing it for johnny law they have to cover the WHOLE tire right? so glad i dont live in one of them there states

 

PA State law:

Rear Wheel Shields - Trucks shall be constructed
or equipped to bar water or other
road surface substances thrown from rear
wheels of the vehicle at tangents exceeding
22.5o , measured from the road surface, from
passing in a straight line to rear of the vehicle.

§ 4533. Rear wheel shields.
Every truck with a gross weight exceeding 11,000 pounds,
trailer and truck tractor (without a semitrailer) driven on a
highway shall be so constructed or equipped as to bar water or
other road surface substances thrown from the rear wheels of
such vehicle or combination at tangents exceeding 22 1/2
degrees, measured from the road surface, from passing in a
straight line to the rear of such vehicle or combination.

I don't think our trucks are capable of exceeding 11,000lb GVW, so i don't think pa needs mud flaps on the rear and there is nothing saying anything about front flaps.

 

Actually I wanted some because when I go in the woods it flings small small rocks into the area where my window goes up and down and when I roll it up and down it scratches the window. Its already tore up from the previous owner. I also hat getting in and out of the truck while hunting and getting covered with mud.

 

hmmm sounds like theres a hole in the door where it shouldnt be.

 

Well on the mud flap question other than stock JAOS are about the best you can get... if you can find them/afford them.
As for the stock ones try some of our parts vendors there are a few dealers there who have excellent prices. The local pick and pull can be a good source to... as long as you don't have the integrated running boards front flaps off a pick-up should fit right in... rears will work too but may need some new mounting holes drilled.
