majorly blown HG

as some of you kno i sold my yota, anyways i sold to a friend of a friend. i was pretty sure it had a blown HG before i sold it. so i stopped by his house today to see how far he had gotten on tearin the engine down and saw this

there was like 2inchhes of antifreeze sittin there. the HG was blown in 2 differnet places, the first and 4th cylinder i mean the rings on the gasket was holdin on by a thread. i wish icoulda kept it and fixed it but i didnt have the money to let a shop do it, and i didint know how to do it. is that pretty normal for a blown HG?

lol, well at least HE'S getting something done... slacker...

lmao

jk man

I sold my 82 Monte Carlo to a guy, then watched him ruthlessly rip out the 350 I built for the car, and throw in a 454... killed me to watch him rip that motor out... but once that 454 was in and running good, it was so awesome, lol

when we pulled the heads off my friend's 83 ranger, it had a blown headgasket and cylinder 6 was filled with coolant.

A head gasket can fail any number of ways, but that one looks real bad because it let go in two places, but it fixable and will be good as new when its done.

I didn't know how to adjust my valves when two set screws came loose in them in the woods.. at two a.m.. and all I had was tools, a haynes manual covered in mud/grease, and a half dead flash light.. But I got 'er dun. I had a head gasket on my '86 give up the ghost a while back, and I'd never done a HG before but it was easy.. all ya gotta do is take lots of pictures and buy a upper gasket set.. Shame to see it gone dude.

i know man dont rub it in! btu im the kinda guy that would rather have it done right by someone who knew what they was doin then me doin. cuz im paranoid about stuff like. im kickin myself for sellin it now cuz i got a paper in teh mail from my insurance company tellin me how much my insurance is now. it went from $190 a month for the dodge and yota...... to $176 a month fro the dodge. so it was pointless to sell it. i was thinkin it would go down atleast 90 boucks, turns out they had me drivn the yota durin teh week and the dodge as a weekend warrior. so ill get me another yota before to long

I bought a 4runner with a blown headgasket last month, looked exactly like that when I pulled the head. Do the dude a favor and lay a straight-edge across the cam saddles. If it can be moved on either end, the head is done. And if the head is done, it got hot enough that you probably should do rings/rods/mains.

Lift never got done, I still have it, four new shocks, and all the suspension stuff to redo the IFS... I'm selling it and a 5.29 IFS front diff if anyone is interested..

PS- I got 1400 out of her, with a shot carb, bad clutch, and dents all over it..
