Is wikepedia right here? 5 speed info
I HATE the 3.0 and auto trans in my 91 4runner. Already swapped out the auto for the r150 5 speed. almost got excited thinking a 4.3 5 speed bellhousing would bolt right up but did a little more searching. not quite. they say the 5 speeds in the canyons, colorados, and h-3's are equivelent. anybody have any input on this? Just some useless (or useful) info

Toyota Motor Corporation's R family is a family of 5-speed RWD/4WD transmissions built by Aisin. They share much in common (such as the bell housing-to-body bolt patterns) with the General Motors AR-5 (titled MA-5 internally by GM), Jeep AX-15, NV3550, and Isuzu AR5 transmissions.

I think your reading this wrong.
The article states that the bellhousing to BODY bolt pattern is the same. Thats the body of the TRANS, not engine, since those trans are made by aisin and are basically a R150 trans.
So, it maybe be possible to bolt a R150 to the Colorado's Inline 5 by getting a bellhousing from a colorado and bolt up your R150 trans.. But probably not since the input shafts will be a different length. Its been discussed before.
And where do you see anything about a 4.3????? Colorado inline 5 cy (which the AR5 trans was found behind) is a 3.5 or 3.7L
