2000 SR5 tongue weight rating

I have a 2000 4runner SR5 with V6 59000 miles and some revos
I was searching the internet and found somthing called the Moto-tote that goes into the hitch to haul motorcycles. I haven't looked yet in my manual, but does anyone know the tongue weight rating or the amount of weight that can be put on the hitch (receiver) safely. Also what is the safe amout of towing weight a 4runner can haul. Or should I just go with a normal trailer? Thanks for your time and information

Ted

3rd Generation 4Runners have a maximum tow weight of 5,000# (note this is the total weight of the trailer!). The tongue weight spec is 600# max.

I towed a 4,000# trailer some 25K miles with our '98 4Runner Limited 4WD. You should be aware that the brakes are marginal for this service and will fade badly descending long, steep grades, even with 4-wheel trailer brakes. I installed rear Air Lift air bags to level the rig, which towed very well, apart from the brake fade issue.

Good luck.
