How to check "level" of truck??

Hey all,

I am thinking of putting some coil spacers or new coils on my truck and am wondering how to decide what height to use on front and rear?

I've had the Toyota rear springs replaced already on the recall and the truck looks level to me now. I've seen references to people checking the levelness of their 4runners before doing this sort of app but was curious how they checked it?

Depending on where I put the level I can get whatever answer I want (front higher, level, or rear higher). How does everyone recommend I check this for the correct answer? Hope this makes sense.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Measure from top of rim to bottom lip of fender. I don't know what stock heights are supposed to be, but with my new Downey HD and Bilstein setup they come out 13 3/4" in front and 13 1/4" in back. That's close enough to level for me.

Check the distance from the top of the wheelwell to the top of the rim with a tape measure. Makes sure to be doing it in a level place (like a wallmart parking lot or somewhere really flat) and that your truck is not loaded with stuff in the back. Then find the largest distance you measured, and add spacers to bring all the others to the correct height.

Cool. That makes sense. I checked and the rear of the truck is about 1/2" higher than the front currently. You think I should put the same lift on both ends then?

Thanks!

Sounds like yours is just perfect in my book.
I prefer the back just slightly higher...about half and inch is perfect for me.
