? for you 2nd gen Downey/Bilstein guys

I'm new at this, but I did search and found lots of positive reports on this setup but no final results.

I put on Downey 1.5" HD's (I think, they showed up without a packing slip from Downey) and Bilsteins and now the heights are confusing me. I thought I read somewhere that stock height was about 13 3/4" from top of rim to bottom of fender. After the install I have heights in the rear of 13 1/4" and in the front of 13 3/4". Does this match your experience?

This is a huge improvement, but I expected to be a bit higher. Anyway, the ride is much better both on and off road than with stock parts. I'm sure that matches.

Thanks for the input.

I had heights of 13.5-13.75 after the HD's were put on. Downey originally shipped me the non-HD springs. Your box will have a part# on it. Compare with their site for the correct part#.

So maybe the height isn't far off. I wondered if they shipped me the regulars too but you got about the same height after the HD's. The website gives a thickness on the HD spring of .660, so I'll check it with the calipers and see what turns up.

Thanks for your response.

All I know is that when I first installed my HD's the front and back were PERFECTLY level...now I think the back is probably about 1/8" lower than the front...probably because the shocks have gotten warn in now. Sounds like you're ok but I would check to be sure they are the right coils. I would have checked that the second I opened the box and found now packing slip, if you got the wrongs ones and installed them anyway I would just leave them on seeing as how you will need to pay for the installation of the HD's if infact you got the wrong ones anyway.

How are you liking the new found height in the back? I love mine!

I just checked them and they match the thickness listed on the website (.66). I'm glad they seem to be right and the height can be considered close enough.

Fink, I like the ride a lot. I did some mild wheeling yesterday and with three guys and some gear there was no bottoming out or dragging the hitch. With the old setup I would have been hating.

How much do you have rim-to-fender?

I think it was similar to your measurements...I'll measure it tomorrow and let you know.
