10A AC Fuse near battery '03 Taco

Hi all,

New here, but not to other forums so I know "search is my friend" but I have looked and looked for my question.

I have an '03 Tacoma 2.4L (133k miles) while driving home from work today the a/c compressor stopped and no light on the push button. I pulled over to check and smelled a burnt smell coming from the compressor area. I made it on home and checked a little further.

Without the compressor running, I had around 80# on the low side, so I didn't lose charge. Looked a little deeper and the found a blown 10A fuse in the compartment near the battery. I had the truck running at the time and replaced the fuse, immediately the engine rev'd up for a split second as when the compressor kicks in and the fuse blows. So based on that, I'm assuming that the low pressure switch is ok (whereever that is, I couldn't find it).

As far as the 10A fuse for this circuit, does any have a wiring schemtic or know what is all on that circuit. Just guessing I would say the magnetic clutch is going bad, pulling high amps and blowing the fuse (plus causing the burnt smell when I first pulled over) but can't be sure not knowing what is all on that circuit.

If it's just the magnetic clutch can that be replaced only or does the whole compressor need to be changed?

Thanks for any help.....
