im putting my sas together on a 84 front axle and am wondering if i need this bolt and washer pictured here at the end of the axle. I know its on my ifs axle but I cant find any pieces from all my 84 parts that I got...is this only on ifs hubs???

there is a snap ring I fit on the 84 so it seems redundant to me.

 

hmmmm, I'm not a solid axel guru; I've grown quite fond of my IFS but I would imagine it does the same thing as the bolt and washer on an IFS rig; it serves as a last savior if the snap ring or spindle nut fails, IIRC

if's there's a threaded hole there at the end of the axel stub on the solid axel, I'd put a the bolt and washer in there, just my opinion
