Chevy alternator in a 88 4runner

so i am told that if i could put a Chevy alternator in my 4runner i would be able to run more off road lights. Is there any differences in alternators? and if a Chevy alternator is the way to go how would i go about installing one?

Yes there is a difference thats why you would swap it. The chev has a higher output. I'm going to be doing this swap soon too. You might have to fiddle with your bracketry a little and i hear there is a little bit of wiring involved. It cant be too hard though i would just go do it
