If it wasn't for bad luck...you know the saying. So may I very ashamedly ask how long does it take you folks to remove and install U joints? Well it takes me all day and still not done... It also doesn't help that the UJs I bought are too large. They are .4 mm larger than stock and I can't get them in, or should I say, I wont force them for fear of breaking the yokes.

This is after a two hour trip running around to get tools to pull the darn thing out of the rig in the first place.

What have you folks noticed on this, have simular problems?

oh boy, mine were a BEAST to get out last time when I did both of them on the rear drive shaft...

it didn't take me a whole day but still, a good 4 hours... for both... total PITA...

a bench mounted vice is a MUST... and a BFH

Actually getting the joints out wasn't bad at all, it was getting the front shaft out. Had to deal with a frozen bolt, finally just bent the dust shield out of the way and then went to work on the bolts to the xfr case. After I got the wrench, I couldn't get the impact wrench on them, and use a breaker bar it wasn't bad.

The next problem occured when I took apart the double cardon joint and some of the bearings came out. It took 1/2 an hour, after I realized they were falling out, to find them amoungst all the other bearings. Dumb...

After that I put one joint in and it was tight, so tight in fact that it seems to be binding as I rotate it. I could barely get the c clip on it as well. I think I am going to remove it and get some from a different supplier.
