how many links on timing chain

Just as the title says

How many links are supposed to be on the timing chain.

The one I took off had 49 the new one has 48 WTF !

I have no idea, ive never counted the links, are you sure that you got the right timming kit for your truck ?.

I just found out I was sent the wrong kit
