trying to start body lift..
hey guys, so i picked up a body lift from one of my buddies for free a few weeks ago. well now im ready to get it started but i have a few questions first.
First off, does something absolutely have to be done to the steering shaft? Also with the radiator what needs to be done? And last off, there were a few brackets that came in the lift that im not to sure what they are and their purpose is, heres some pics.....
Heres the first set, there is a total of 2

And the others, total of 4

any idea on what theses brackets are? thanks for the help guys, really need it trying to get the lift done within the next few days.

top braket is for the front bumper, and the second is for the radiator(to drop it 3" it looks like" bolt it up to the original holes and the studs are for the radiator hope it helps...also PB BLASTER!!!!!

Looks like bumper brackets and rad drop brackets.
With a body lift that big you need to address the steering shaft, you might just be able to drill out the stud or whatever to get the correct length.
You will have to fiddle with your shifters (HAHAH!!) after aswell.. The gas filler neck might be a little short too.

good advise so far...personally I would stay away from a body lift, but free (as long as it is complete) is a good deal.
YEs you need to deal with possibly extending the steering shaft, yes the gas filler will be too short, yes you might have to mess with the shifters (enlarging the hole or dogleging the shift lever)
Before you get started on your freebie lift and get all Frustrated (been there a few time myself
) I suggest you read this Link from 4Crawlers install instructions... probably avoid some headaches...
good luck and post some before and after pictures or you will be banned (just kidding

There is no reason to even really open up the cooling system. I undid my radiator, left it loose and then jacked the body up and installed the drop brackets.
I had to bend my shifters a little to clear the t-case shifter, I have a feeling the guy who welded them tweaked it a little... doing the inner boot inversion trick really helped me get into 4th and reverse aswell. I have been running my BL for two years and I have full range in all gears no problems...
Before you install, I suggest taking the hardware to a store and buying grade 8 or 10 bolts and nuts to replace them. I wish I did this before, now its a pain...

yeah i removed the rad and got tons of air into my cooling system, body lift makes it worse. for my shifters i bent the tranny shifter forward and then grinded the metal part on the shifter cover so i can go into 4low. i didnt bother to extend the shifters.
