Push down and turn IIRC. Obviously, you have to unbolt the boot from the floor.

Not sure where you're getting hung up, so I'll start from the beginning.

-First, you need to get access to the shifter. So remove any parts of the center console that are in the way. You'll also need to unscrew the shift knob.
-There should be a plate that attaches the the rubber boot, remove it.
-Slide the boot off.
-Remove the snap ring that is holding the shift lever in. It should just slide out now. A pair of snap ring pliers make it easy, but I've done it without them.

I just have to hold mine in 2nd after my body lift. Otherwise, no issues. Let us know how this ends up.

Have you tried removing the shifter plate/base? I think there are just 4 bolts holding it in.

there should be a shift collar retainer, unless yours in rusted in there like mine,
you should be able to push down on the retainer, as you are pushing it down, turn it counter clockwise approximately 1/8 of a turn. than it should pop off the two pins

I have a problem with my shifter hitting my 4 wheel select shifter when I am in 4-wheel high. How do I get the 4 wheel select shifter out so that I can bend it some, is it the same proceedure?
