No start? cracked the fuel line to check for fuel now it works?

No start? cracked the fuel line to check for fuel now it works?
so all the sudden i go to drive my 93 auto 4 runner with 4wd and it wont start, turns over but wont start. So had it towed to my mechanic and he said he cracked the fuel line to check for fuel just by the fuel pressure regulator and it started and fuel squirted out so he bolted it back up and now it starts everytime. Anyone with any ideas why it did that? Maybe something going out?
