Mine is smashed also. I went to toyota and checked to see if I could get one, the guys at the parts counter told me that they dont make just the plate. I would have to buy a whole new climate control, which is about 100 dollars. He dident think that you would be able to take just the plate off even if I found one in a junk yard.

So if anyone has a solution to this im interested. (sry for novel)

or.. got an ebay account, (not mine for sale) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-...ayphotohosting they are out there. just carefully pry off with a flathead screw driver after pulling off lever knobs. they slide on and off.

Toyota still has the plastic frame and the actual plastic that you probably broke is the "sticker" as it's referred to. or decal. But its really plastic with decals kinda printed on it.

I was told by my dealer that both were discontinued when i put my finger through mine LoL ... but truth is they still stock em, but i dont have the part #'s anymore.

I ended up picking up all the pieces on mine and put clear tape on the back and just puzzled it back together..then with the help of a sharpie colored in the cracks where light shined through... surprisingly you dont notice unless you look closely.

but anyway, the plate with decal was only $30 (new from toyota) when I was gonna buy one a few years ago.

not a very good shot of it... but honestly, even a few feet closer you can't tell its cracked. Our other yoter, same thing, cracked all over but its actually missing chunks lol

You could always send a PM to DeathCougar, a member here who works at Niz99, a Toyota/Lexus wrecking yard.

They still make them. Just go to toyotapartszone.com, I just bought about 5 a month ago. They are only like 3.00 each.

Part number is 81942-89102.

Now that is for an 88. So it might be best to search by vin # for your specific year.

That is for the "sticker" that goes onto the plastic. The plastic breaks along with the sticker so he needs 81942-89102 which is the complete lens. They are around $30.

Yeah those do break easily. I've replaced mine on my '86 too, it was very easy.
I just found a used one on ebay, popped the old off and stuck the new one on there. While it's off remember to replace the light bulbs for the climate control, they only cost a few bucks and you won't have to change them for a long time afterwards.

The one I got for my Toyota was about $20 shipped from ebay by the way.

Thanks for this.
Just ordered one for my nephews truck...$9 to my door

Plastic is still good, the decal is all that needs to be replaced.
