high idle all of a sudden help please!!!

i cleaned my maf and throttle body on my 4runner 3.4 tonight. the throttle body was super dirty. i doubt it has ever been cleaned and the truck has 201,000 miles on it.

i go to start it after and it was idling around 2000 rpms. i went and drove it and now its down around 1500 sometimes 1200. i pulled the efi fuse to reset the system for 15 minutes but this didnt do a thing

i need to fix this what can cause this. and as far as i know there is no idle adjustment right?

please help me anyone!!!

im super frustrated

No idle adjustment.

You may have gotten some crap stuck in your IAC valve when cleaning the throttle body.

Yeah i did, it ended up being the throttle body. the butterfly valve was not closing all the way sometimes. I went to a pick a part and got a throttle body off another 4runner, and it has worked fine ever since.

try manually revving the engine from the throttlebody and force it closed, your idle should be normally with extra back pressure closing it

Thanks for the feedback!

I tried this last night and it works... I'm wondering if I maybe bent the brass plate portion of the butterfly valve when I was cleaning it... I was trying to be very careful while cleaning. If it is bent, then maybe I can just bend it back? Definitely have to wait until it warms up; it'd be just my luck that I'd go to bend it and it would snap it in half because it was too cold/brittle...

Well i figured that mine was warped for awhile, and it made a thick ring of carbon that allowed it to seal, until i cleaned it. Try a pick a part if you want a newer tb. because i got mine for $39.99 and its great
