DRL help....

Okay, so I went to do the DRL mod, actually want to wire it up to a toyota switch so that I can still run them on-road and such. I realized that I don't seem to have a relay box as pictured in the write-up that Ducky has, possibly due to the fact that I have an older third gen (1998). Does that mean that the DRL wire is coming out of the ECU box instead? Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but if someone else with a 98 or older could chime in I'd appreciate it.

My 99 had no provision for DRL's....

Is yours even pre-wired for them ??

The DRL relay for the '01s is there, its just in a different location. In the '01, the DRL relay sits behind the kick plate under the steering wheel, not in the engine compartment.

So do you have to drop the panel beneath the steering wheel to see it? I was under the impression that is was visible by just crawling underneath to take a look.

unless mine is missing something, all I had to do was look under the dash towards the right hand side.

Hmmm, I'm definitely not seeing anything remotely the same on mine. I have a 98 from Canada, which maybe was setup a little differently?

I have a 3rd Gen. and did the mod....my DRL box is right under the dash by my right shin, just next to the steering column. Just where I thought everybodies was. Easy to see, didn't have to remove anything to see it. But has anyone noticed that after the mod is done, the lights don't turn off when you open the drivers door upon exiting the vehicle as they used to? I'm a little mad about this problem....any help?

I had a hard time finding the box on my '97 at first, but I got it all figured out. Here's a link to the original thread. This method is much easier than cutting wires.
