2nd Gen Rear Tire Carrier
So I got tired of having my spare on the roof. For one the truck is high enough that I don't need to throw extra weight up there. I've never had to take it down in the case of a flat but I'm pretty sure it would be a pain in the butt to do so and mostly, the weight of the tire when the trail is rough causes lots of noises as the roof flexes.
I like my Allpro rear bumper and wasn't keen on getting rid of it so with the help of my welder buddy, we put this system together.
Still waiting for the latch to come in. Destaco 331R which when mounted will pull the carrier arm tight across and in. No Rattles!!
To mount the tire to the carrier, I used an old hub assembly. I can now not only carry my spare but also a spare hub and set of greased bearings.
There's lots more pics of the building process or if you have any questions.
I use a backup camera mounted high so can still see whats behind me.

Before buildnig the carrier, my welder guy read the Great Tire Carrier Roundup to see who did what and what worked. There were only two carriers that remained rattle free after 5000miles and both were build with heavy stock metal. Now that its painted, it looks pretty good.
