Lock the Hi-Lifts up
Just finished a very cheap & fast mod
I saw a thread earlier in the week by 4RnrRick over on Cascade Crawlers Toyota forum.
He mounted his Hi-Lift to the front of his bumper and then drilled the bolts and locked it.
I asked for info on the size of padlock and he said he used one with a 3/16th shaft.
I picked up a 4 pack today from the hardware store.
Where I live, one might expect it to get ripped off very easily if they could do it quiet enough without setting off my knock sensor for my alarm system.
I don't leave the Hi-Lift up there all the time as it would rust here. But I do like to put it on Friday evenings before a Saturday morning run.
I had to drill one size bigger hole than the 3/16th which is 7/32nd.
It turned out real good.
I don't have a thread chaser to clean the threads afterwards, but turning off the wing nut and putting it back on again seemed to do the trick.
Here are two pics.

The Hi-Lift holder I'm using is the one from Slee Off Road's website.
Works perfect on Yakima or Thule crossbars if you want to carry it on the roof.

thats a pretty cool setup. but if someone really wanted it, they could get it. but the same goes for anything else on your rig.. or your whole rig.
good idea though, looks good too. you could do this with a lot of things on your truck.....
