99 4runner ignition ring light not working
Hello, I recently purchased a used 99 4runner and I am going through it to bring it back into shape. Now that the malfunctioning power steering pump has been replaced (thanks to the threads on here I was able to diagnose the problem). I am moving on to miscellaneus dashboard issues.
Issue #1: Ring light around ignition key hole not working. Suggestions?
Issue #2: Security system light not working. Does this mean it has been disconnected? Suggestions for reconnection. Also the keys are Ilco, therefore not factory keys, therefore no chips in them correct? Is this a problem if the security system is reconnected.
Issue #3: When I installed my new CD player/radio head unit, I found a random disconnected coaxial cable behind the dash. What is it for? Should I call Comcast?
Thanks in advance for your help

As for the "glow stick" ring light modification I figure its not economical because I'll need a whole box of glowsticks due to short glow stick life. Although I do dig the flourescent green color of glowsticks. I wonder how many times I can use the word glow stick in a paragraph.

Anybody know about the security system thing? I've read about rs3000 and rs 3200 and clicked on an old link about those systems but nothing was there. Are those stock systems? Are they made by Viper? Any helpful links i should read?

RS3000 is the stock Toyota security system for the 99s and probably earlier
3200 is the later version . Sorry I am not conversant in that kind of electronics. I push a little key fobbie thing and it locks the doors and that is about all I know....
Try newbie tech or Electronics or T4R.org for specific to Runners

the extra coax may be for the read antenna?? Did it have an aftermarket radio? If so, it wouldnt use the extra rear antenna and the installer left it laying there.
Regardless, just use the main one for your new CD player and all will be good!!
