I went to get my union fittings for my breather extensions...

and the dealership wanted $9.49 a piece!
That's for the 90404-51319 fitting.
Is this what everyone else has paid?
If I buy three of them that is $30 + probably $20 for hose and clamps = $50 or more to extend all three of my breathers. I don't really want to spend that much extending my breathers but if that's what it takes then maybe I will.
Does anyone have any other alternatives to this union fitting? $9.49 just seems a little steep that's all.
I did get my gaskets for my hubs though.
Thanks

1/4" NPT brass parts will work, but only use them in the rear diff. Everything else is made of aluminum, which is softer than brass, and will be destroyed. The steel rear diff will re-cut the brass threads to a metric size.

AG,
No way! Looking back at my write up at http://www.4runners.org/articles/typerdiff , i paid about $6.00 from the dealership. And even I consider them expensive! Try partznet.com. Love those guys.

I have 1/8" NPT nipples in my front and rear diffs with absolutely no problems at all.
Any store that sells plubming stuff will have them, they will be cheap and they will do exactly what you need. I want to say that two nipples and an elbow cost less than 3 bucks.

I paid less than $6 for each of mine. Hose clamps are about 50 cents at a hardware store.
The last time I was in the Toyota Stealership I bought the gaskets for Tranny, Transfer, and Differential drain plugs. 4 gaskets were $8.50 at first. I told them "I'm in the TLCA" (Toyota Land Cruiser Association) Suddenly the 4 gaskest were $4.15.

Thanks for the help guys.
I've tried the links that you gave me. It seems that they sell the "major" parts that you need, not the stuff like union fittings, nuts, and bolts. I think I will try heading to a hardware store and looking for those 1/8" NPT nipples and see what I can do with that. If that doesn't work, I think I will start sending e-mails to some of those websites and see if they have it.
Also, where is that page that has the vendors advertising ads on it? I looked around and can't seem to find it. I did find the page with posts in it but not the other one.

I actually went to Autozone and bought a PCV valve for something that had the same thread as my original breather and I used it in the diff, I used about 5' of hose and my original breather on the other end. It works greak for about $6.

I used the generic NPT fittings too. I drilled out the center and the ball to allow more breathability. Used some hose and a small fuel filter and was done. I think total cost was $6. I call that cheap.
