3rd gen pickup rear bumper

Are the stock rear bumper mounts strong enough to use for a custom rear bumper? I guess a better question is:are they strong enough to use if I have to use the(custom, stronger) rear bumper as a recovery point?

I would say no they are not strong enough. Seen alot of crinkled ones and if your spending the time and money to build a custom bumper take another half hour and build new brackets. Hope this helps.

definately make new mounts. i threw a stock bumper on last week just so i could drive it to go wheel and i was messing around in a rock pit and bent the bumper brackets so bad that it was almost dragging on the ground. what i did for my old tube bumper was use the tow package mounts and it held up great. so if you have a tow package thats what i would use
