Are front rotors separate from wheel hub 98 4Runner?

Hi,

Are the front rotors separate from the wheel hub on a 1998 4Runner?

(do I need to remove the wheel bearing assy to replace the rotor?)

Thanks,

Jeff B

All you need to remove is the brake caliper

The rotor will most likely seem stuck on even after removing the brake caliper. Just hit it with a hammer (probably have to swing pretty hard. Do not hit the braking surface but the big part that slides over the hub. Hit it on the side, not the front, so as not to damage any lug nuts. I think there are also some holes in their that you can run a screw down through to help push them off, but the hammer always works well for me, just have to be careful.

What I do when they're stuck is put one lug nut back on a few threads to keep the rotor from flying off and hitting the ground. Take a piece of 2x4 and hold it up against the back side of the rotor, give the 2x4 a couple wacks, spin the rotor to a different spot, and give it a couple more wacks; repeat this until the rotor is loose.
