Pops out of gear

My R150F pops out of 2nd and 4th, and my Tcase pops out of 4H.

I installed new seat and bushing on the tranny, as well as the Tcase mount. IIRC it got worse after I put my new clutch in. It only pops out when there is no load (stays in gear when on the gas). When shifting, it will pop out of 4H and when coasting it will pop out of either of the three. Any suggestions?

Are you suggesting that's the problem or asking if I have one? I have a 3" BL, but it was fine for the first 10 years it was on.

What kind of shifter seat did you use? OEM?

Anything over a 2" bl can cause it to pop out of gear. Perhaps your motor or tranny mounts are wore out more and/or broken. Unbolt the shifter boot mount from the cab and drive it around a bit. If it stays in gear then you found your problem - the body lift. It is very unlikely that you have a tranny problem happen at the same time you have a transfer case problem - and the same thing is happening.

Got it!

Turns out when I put the boots back in I put them back in the original way. This past weekend I took them out and noticed that both shifters stay in gear. After examining the boots and scratching my head I noticed that there were some pin holes about an inch forward of the original holes on the boots. Turns out the PO put the screws through here and when I took it apart the holes closed up because it is made out of rubber. So this time I used the other holes, thus moving the boots back about an inch...and....ta da!!!!!!!

Now my truck is fun to drive again...and safer when it comes to using 4wd on the roads.
