I've considered the Trailgear version and my friend who is a welder said he can make plates for a bolt-on job and recommended doing that so they could be removed if the need arises.

Fab up a set and get back to us on how much fun and how easy it was.

Most fabricators do not offer bolt on for a reason...they are a PITA as well as cost and easy install prohibitive.

Lots of places sell bolt on...they call them nerf bars.

My friend fabs up bolt-on plates for out of his garage and he says the templates he designed made things fairly easy and I hope to have him do some for me by spring.

Get the Trail Gear ones and buy the gusset plates, from the looks of the web site it looks like those can be welded to the legs of the sliders and then bolted to the frame...I think Mt. Goat did something like that on his truck...maybe he will chime in and correct me if I am wrong.

I got the same set from WAB FAB and looked into the bolt on but for the time work and money involved I just welded them on and they hold up so well I have had 4 200-250 people standing on them at once and not a bit of movement well woth the welding vs. the bolt on.

The bolts and nuts to go throught the frame itself will suck your wallet dry for the cost welding is gonna be cheaper and for the piece of mind knowing that they will be there after a few rocks say hello to them welding is the only way to go.

i think those are the exact the type he had. CBI has a junky web site though. i guess ill contact them for pricing.

is this style called "clamp on"? i think ive worded my post wrong, because this is exactly the type id like to get. looks like the clamp holds it on strong and a limited amount of self taping bolts are needed to secure it.

I'd just hope welded sliders don't interfere with anything you might need to fix underneath thus having the option of removal is nice for that reason or resale and I know more than a few off roaders that have bolt-ons and I've never heard of them giving out.
