Score!! Roll bar with pad and Supra MAF!

Went to the pick n pull place this morning looking for a tailgate handle (none) and some other things. I posted up about putting a 4runner roll bar in my truck and low and behold they had 2. I didn't get both since getting the one out took a little bit of prying and pulling. The one I got has the zippered pad on the top of it that only has one small tear in it (about an inch long) and is in pretty good shape. I don't know if it's going to mount in the truck or not but for twenty bucks and change I couldn't pass it up. If it doesn't work I know one or two of you wanted one for your runners (Space-Junk wanted one I think) and I'll be selling it. If it's not a pain to ship then I can go grab the other one as well and sell it here.

The one great thing that I did get is a 1982 Supra MAF serial number 22250-43110. From what I've read this one is a plug and play correct? I'll find out in a while and it it works then I'll be pulling a fender this weekend and installing my home made (not put together yet) 3" snorkle. The dang MAF cost me 70$ but that's about 10% of the cost of a new one and they are hard to find. I had to go to a different place for this one, if I'd have found one at the first place it'd have been 16.50$ but of course they didn't have one, they did have one on an 83 though........ dang it.

Tell me congrats!!!

The MAF works. I plugged it in and fired the truck up. It idles a little slower than before but the throttle response is better (at least in the driveway). I only let it run about 15 seconds or so since I don't have a filter for it yet and then put all the stock stuff back together.

The runner bar does't exactly fit. With the forward most legs on the top of the fenders the rear legs are 3" off the deck. I can cut the front ones pretty easy and reweld the mounting plates and I think it'll still fit under the camper shell when I put it on for camping but I'm unsure if I want to cut up a factory roll bar. I'd have to move my hi-lift mounts and may end up mounting the jack to the bar.

I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

Even with the 2nd gen 4runners cutting and rewelding is required.

Might as well if you have the tools and want to put it in there.
I personally think those look dumb in pickups. Just imo.

As far as the supra, i wouldn't mind hearing how that works out for you!

When I get the mounting hoses bought and the aluminum stand off's milled I'll post up a build/install thread with results.

Why would you want to swap in a Supra AFM?

The supra MAF has a bigger hole in it........ more air and should eliminate my 4th gear hill climb issues and hopefully help increase my fuel milage.
