Intake manifold bolt snapped!!

1994 Toyota Pickup v6 4x4, 3VZE motor .. I managed to snap off one of the 2 bolts pertruding up from the rear of the intake manifold where there's a coolant routing piece that gets bolted to the manifold. This piece has the upside-down "U" hose piece that i've seen other posts about. In the process of tightening down the nut that clamps the piece to the manifold, i snapped off the bolt! What a pain!! Now my question is before i take the manifold off can this even be fixed or do i need a whole new manifold? I have an electric welder that ive never used and would be willing to learn how to weld to fix this if that's an option. i'm kinda stuck at this point and need some advice!

Thanks!

Is that a stud that broke off? If that's the case you're probably okay.

If there's enough healthy thread left on it you could put on a couple of jamnuts and back the stud out. Spray a little penetrant on the base of it beforehand.

If there's not enough thread left you could buy a fancy stud remover or maybe just get a good solid grip on it with visegrips and thread it out. Then get a new stud and put it where the old one was!

What rustbucket said, plus if you have a propane, MAP gas or any other torch heat it up before you turn it, it makes a big differance!

It is a mounting bolt not for the manifold itself but for this other piece that bolts to the manifold once the manifold is bolted down to the motor. I attached a pic with another angle with that other piece sitting on the snapped bolt.

So if i take the manifold off (again) i should be able to get the bolt out from the underside, is that correct? What sucks is that i just finished doing the knock sensor last night and buttoned everything up and forgot to bolt this piece on. when i put coolant into the radiator it came pouring out in buckets!

Back to the garage...
