5 series gears and 33's.
Are any of you running 5.29's or 5.71's and 33" tires?
I ask becuase I'm thinking that after my lift I might go with 33's and a re-gear. I know 4.88's are the 33" standard but I'd like to go a little deeper into the crawl department.
Of course this means that my 5 ,less than 2000 miles on them, Treadwrights and 4.56 thirds will be up for sale, if it works that is.

5.71 would be WAY to high.. 5.29's would work pretty well, HWY crusing would suffer but it sure would be peppy around town
I would also consider doing a dual t-case setup.. It would be better in the long run.

I have 5:29s and 33s now I went to them so I can swap between 33s and 35s.
If you have an auto its fine, the OD helps out and plenty of pull! Even if I had a 5spd Id go 5:29 based on I know i wonr run anything smaller than a 33 and bigger is always an option.

I'd never run anything under 35s with 5.29s. You do realize with 33s your top speed is going to be around 50-55 right? I've got 35's and I still run out of engine around 60-65mph.

Yeah that's an issue but I want to be able to crawl a little better and not get too big. The last time I went out I was taunted for hours because I couldn't make it up a simple 6 foot shelf with my 31's. I really believe that if the spotter hadn't had a bias towards Toyota's he would have helped me pick a better line. My only other option (besides SAS which I can't afford) is dual t-cases but that involves drivelines, braces, armour etc.....
Just trying to eliminate reasons for the Rubicon Jeep owners to laugh at my expense.

Bah, you aint need duals just yet. Plop in some 4.7 crawl gears in your tranny. Aint hard at all, no real special tools needed other than some snap ring pliers.
Going from 4.88s to 5.29's with 33s is only 11fpm (foot per minute) change. Basically with 4.88s it'll crawl 148fpm @ 750rpm (43.73:1 fgr-lo), and with 5.29s it'll crawl 137fpm @ 750rpm (47.40:1 fgr-lo).
You'd get much better results sticking with 4.88s and 33s with those low 4.7:1 lo-range gears for your tranny. Then you'll crawl 72fpm @ 750rpm (90.14 fgr-lo).
And you do know that smaller tires makes for slower crawl speeds right?
