W-56 with matching T. Case from an 89 into an 84?

I have to replace the clutch on my 84 pickup this weekend, and I was toying with the idea of putting my w-56 and matching transfer case from my 89 parts truck in the 84. Is this even worth the trouble? Both transmissions shift fine, and the transfer cases work great, too. I just figured newer is probably better, and the 89 is a top shift. The both have 150k and change on them.

the w-56 in the 89 is stronger than the G52/54 in your 84 if you have it out i would do it or get the doubler kit and do that too while you are in there!!!

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'll probably have to modify the floor board for the different shifter location, but that's no biggie. They will both be out come this weekend, so I think the w-56 will be going in the 84.
