Won't idle when cold

Question Won't idle when cold

Hello everyone. I have a 97 4Runner 3.4L and when I try to start her, cold, she just won't do it unless I help. What I have to do is push the gas pedal in and hold the RPMs around 3K. The whole time it does not sound normal. After about like 2-3 minutes you hear this "click" and all of a sudden it runs like the day I bought her. If I park it for like 15 minutes and go to start her up again she is just fine. From what I can tell it only happens after she has been sitting for at least 2 hours. This morning I noticed that before there was that "click", and everything was normal, that the exhaust was kicking out a rather larger than normal white cloud of exhaust. But again, as soon as the "click" happened the exhaust went right back to looking the way it has the last 7 years of owning it. Anyone have any ideas of what may be going on??

Try cleaning out the IAC valve...If its gummed up and sticking once the IAC solenoid forces it open it could cause a "click" noise....After that,I have no idea......
