Hi everybody!

So, if I may elaborate on my upcoming questions... I own an 84 xtra cab. Love the truck! In the short time I've owned it, we've been through a lot (mud, snow, high altitudes, "urban offroading", a rollover, a few girls, and a lot of mechanical and cosmetic work).

However, I have a lot of friends and I love driving them. But with two buckets, I'm forced to leaving them flying around in the campershell. That being said, I'm looking at body swaps......

I would like to take my xtra cab body and bed off (84-88) and replace them with the body parts of a 4 door Hilux (same generation).

Here come the questions:

1) Does Mexico and neighboring countries have junkyards similar to Pick N Pull and the latter? If so, how easily can I find a 4 door Hilux body?

2) I would imagine that the 4 door Hilux trucks utilize a longwheel base frame. Is it the exact same length as an xtra cab frame?

3) Could anyone ballpark a price for me on a 4 door cab with all doors and glass? And the bed, which I'm sure is much smaller than my 72 inch bed.

I appreciate any and all answers. I'm VERY interested in such a swap and I have not found anyone YET who has committed themselves to such an insane idea. It either comes down to this or buying a 4Runner body AND frame that will support a front solid axle. I'm willing to fabricate body mounts, but I do not wish to try my luck at spring hangers.

And let's face it, a 4 door hilux in California would be mother-effin'-cool!

Yea but I'd have to swap frames too. To my recollection, a 4Runner utilizes a short wheelbase frame and my XtraCab has a long wheelbase frame. I'm not prepared to chop my frame and I really don't wanna have to transfer my axles, all my hydraulic lines, tank, engine, etc.

Plus, a 4 door 1984 hilux? How many do you see in the states?
