weak IFS power steering?

have 87 turbo sr5 pickup.
the steering feel like power assist rather than power steering.
anyone have a similar problem? any ideas what the prob;em might be?

Did you put ATF or power steering fluid in it?

It has been my experience that your PS pump is not long for this world once it gets power steering fluid in it ... gotta be ATF.
