Thinking about a 350 swap

Have a refreshed 350 available for free so have a few questions.

I have a 3.0 auto and I want to use the stock trans, is there an adapter for this? I only see info for manual trans.
I need to keep the AC, I'm seeing this can be done. What specifically have you used to retain AC?
If i'm using the stock drivertrain, other han a bellhousing and engine mounts, what needed to physically fit the 350 into the engine bay?
Electrical is no problem for me, cuting, splicing, soldering is easy but what do I need to keep the auto working correctly? I assume I get as much of a chevy loom as possible.

I never plan to wheel it, just use it in winter and to pull the boat. The stock parts should hold up to that hopefully.

Your gonna have to research this more. You have alot of work ahead of you and knowledge to gain. I know this info is out there here and the web.

I dont think you can use the auto tranny behind this motor now would i use the 3.0 tranny on it even if I could. A manual yota tranny can somewhat take the abuse of a 350 but wont last as long (this can be argued and has ). I would look into auto chevy trannies so you dont have to buy the adapter kits. V8 and V6 chevy motors all use the same bolt pattern so a tranny from one would and should be easy to find. Sorry I dont really know what specific ones are great but a simple search will help you with that one! If you go with a chevy auto tranny i would asume that the chevy wirirng harness would be a plug and play right to it. Cant promise that for you though. Most chevys are autos so I dont think this is going to be hard to find.

Welding/fab cutting, grinding, wirirng and troubklshooting are some of the things to expect with any and all swaps. Have fun, do your homework, and get that thing in there and enjoy!

Searching is going to be your best friend with this!

Absolutly correct! I am 90% done with my 350 swap. LOTS of fabbing. Worst part is grinding. Welding is fun. Wiring and troubleshooting, even with a carb, sucks! Should be a treat when I to a TBI upgrade!

Whatever you do, have fun. Dont even think about doing this unless you can devote A LOT of time and A LOT of money. I've been in the process of the swap for a year now. A lot of time collecting new parts and selling old parts.
