Worst oil leak EVAR

So I discovered that I had an oil leak over the weekend. A sudden puddle of oil in a parking lot. And of course it can't be a simple leak...oh no... I traced it down to the gasket between the timing cover and the block. Looks like it blew out.

So now I get to tear off the head JUST to change a GASKET!

you don't have to pull the head if it is a 22r or 22re it can be removed by dropping the oil pan I prefer to drop the oil pan over replacing the head gasket if the head gasket is good.

if it is a stock truck it is also good to drop the front differential a few inches to get the pan back in place.

Thatssa good idea... hadn't thought of that. It's a 2wd so no front diff, but I think I can slide the pad back far enough to clear the cover.

THANKS!!

use the grey high temp oil resistant permatex .for the oil pan the cork gaskets suck.
for the timing chain buy the paper gasket and follow the instructions in the FSM or the hanynes manual .

You dont even need to remove the oil pan. As long as all the bolts are out and you are careful, it can be done without damaging anything. I have done several timing chain sets this way.
