ticking in passenger side air vent

ticking in passenger side air vent
I am hearing a ticking in the passenger side vent area. I can't tell exactly where it is coming from...seems like under the glove box area. The ticking only happens when the air fan is turned on...and it gets faster the higher level I turn the fan on. The ticking has become louder over time. It's now quite noticable. I am not sure that it is affecting the performance of the AC though.
Any ideas on how/where to fix this?
Thanks

rparker,
what yr 4runner do you have?
take a look at this write up i did on how to install a taco whip antenna. in step 5 in the write up, you'll see that i took off the paneling on the passenger's side to run the antenna cable to the stereo. you can clearly see the air duct in the pic where i'm removing the glove box. you can easily remove the air duct and see if there is a piece of paper or maybe a leaf trapped in there. thats my guess what that sound is.

I don't know how the fan box and ducting has changed in the 3rd gen, so I can't help you with removal...
13 years of usage had seen by fan suck in a nice collection of leafage through the plenum
David.

Eww could be a dead mouse that crawled in there to nest and died when you turned the fan on. It's not winter though so I doubt it. Good luck!
