83 steering problem

83 steering problem

was out on the trail yesterday and everytime only going downhill the steering wheel got really hard to turn, and made a metal on metal sound at the firewall two hands to get it to turn has anyone had anything like this go on before. on flat ground or going up steep hill it was fine just getting some ideas from other people thanks

Thats kinda odd.

check out your body mounts and make sure the cab isn't pushing forward causing the steering shaft to bind. Park it on a hill and get to looking.

i had some ubolts that stretched very bad one time so when i turned the box would just push the axle back and forth on the spring. That was after it sheared the center pin.
