I have a '02 4Runner.

I installed the Fabtech Performance system on this truck. It was lifted approx 3" due to installing '99 rear coil springs. I had the truck aligned. I have noticed that when the wheels are turned it appears that there is visibly more camber, caster and steering effort.

So long story short, the front tires are wearing at an increased rate due to this. I am wondering if there are different balljoints or spindles to compensate for this.

Visible camber change as the wheels are turned off-center is normal. When they are straight-ahead there shouldn't be any visible lean. If the tires are exhibiting camber wear or wearing quickly, take it back to the alignment shop and show them the tire wear.

 

Thanks for replying. When the wheels are straight forward there is no caster or camber it's only when I turn.

I'm just starting to notice allot more outer edge wear than before so I guess I'll take it back to the alignment place.

Is it normal to have increased tire wear due to the lift?

 

Mine does the same thing, go slower around corners is what they told me, and with the roads around us that is probably right lol. I havent seen u in town, throw up some pics of ur runner.

When was the last time you rotated the tires? You should probably go back to the shop and have them re-align it. I had problems with the normal tire shops which did alignments and had to go to a front end place to do it right.

You have caster, believe me.

Camber wil change as the wheel turns.

 

When I did my lift, I had to go to a front-end shop to have mine done right too.

My dealership got it VERY close, but I took it to the other shop to double check. They adjusted it a few clicks and I was all set.

I have a 2 1/2 " lift on my 01 4Runner and there is no uneven or increased tire wear. All 4 are wearing evenly, I rotate them twice a year.
