Thanks, I thought so to. Someone at the seven eleven parking lot asked me if it was a real HiLux. LOL.

The '88 hilux was a diesel and I think it still had a solid front axle. My '88 us model is appearently equivelent to the '89 uk model .?

You can still get the Hilux with a gas engine, same with the Prado and Fortuner. They stopped the HILUX SFA in 1997, but have always produced one for the LC. Also the Hilux was the 2nd pick-up offerd from Toyota in the 70s in both Canada and the USA. After the Hilux the name was changed to Pick-up an the Hilux name kept exclusive for the rest of the world.

Wow, I wonder if anyone ever made a video of a Hilux . . . like a short film . . . of how tough they are . . . that'd be so cool.

Don't do that 4mydogs, that would turn this thread into a hated thread just like the other 10 million Top Gear Hilux Endurance video threads.

Hey yeah, that would be crazy awesome... Myabe put it on a roof of a building and implode it, or even chain it down by the ocean and let the tide come in on it; and in the end, it would still run! Could you image!

I'm gunna go see if such a clip exist right now, maybe on YouTube!

I want a pair of the corner lights off of those things. Preferably the clear and black humped ones. Would look pretty good on my 85 I think.

My answer to the questions: "yep toyota only made 10 4runner Hilux prototypes. Mine is one of the two that survived the last 23 years, the other is in toyota's museum in Japan."

Then three fine ladies come up and ask for a ride in it. Sweet.

I garantee you the only people that inquire about it own a Toyota though, lol. No Hummer, Jeep, Dodge, or Chevy guy would ever think twice about it... They'd see it and think, "Oh look, a Toyota Hilux"... You could give the same answer above to them, lol.

No they'd see it and think: Stupid toyotas. At least that's the response I get. I had to "earn" the respect of my chevy buddies. Needless to say it wasn't hard.
