BFG km2's- will they fit??

I am new to this site. I have been an avid reader and it helped immensley when I was building up my 2000 4runner limited.

I own a 2000 4runner Limited and recently installed Sonoram steel's 1.2 suspension system. I am running stock 16" rims with BFG AT's that I use as as my DD tires. I want to buy the new BFG KM2's and put them on another set of rims. Currently the size I want - 285 70 only come for 17 inch rims. So- I have Steve Schaefer's opinion that they will fit so long as I go with a 3.5- 4.0 back space rim. does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this set up. Will they fit? How much backspace do I need? I am concerned they will rub on the frame and/or plastic. Before I give up and settle on a smaller tire or a BFG KM on 16 inch rims I wanted to find out what people have to say about it. thanks.

Haven't seen the new MT's mounted on a 4runner yet due to the lack of 15-16 rim sizes. I don't see it having a problem as long as they are ~33" or below and correct backspacing.

Wait until September. BFG is supposed to be releasing more sizes then. Most likely there'll be more options for 15 and 16 inch wheels. I emailed bfg a while back about 255 85r16 km2s. They said they are in the development process, but can't publish the release date yet.

I couldn't get an answer out of anyone at BFG or any of the big name tire places to find out when they may release a BFG MT km2 for 16 inch rim. I guess I can wait. I don't really want to.

I have 315 mounted on 16. If you can't find your size don't wait around for them, just get the MTR.

I finally reached someone at BFG. The KM2's will be available in September in the 285 70 R16 size I want. I have 16x7 factory rims now with 265 75 R16 Ko's on them. I only have about 1 inch space from inside of tire to the upper Arm. I have read and researched this site and others but I am still not clear on backspacing for 16x7 rims or what I may need to run the 285's. I'm thinking 4.25. anyone have any thoughts or experience?

4.25 sounds right.

I would suggest either the LC wheels that are very popular (or were when I was in the 3rd gen genre) or the less popular LX450 (in my opinion better looking). I don't remember the backspacing on them is 4.25 or 4.75 but if you do a search I'm sure you can find it.

Those KM2's are going to look good on there.

I'm going to try the 255 85 R16 on stock rims. KM2's in this size will be released in sept.

I got 285-70-17's on and they fit with my 2.5" suspension lift and 1.5" body lift. No rubbing.
